AUGUST 18, 2000 Kathleen Grasso Andersen, executive director of the Rainy Mountain Society of Indigenous Peoples of California, has asked the Department of Interior to seek a ruling on whether Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is biased against two Pequot tribes. Anderson says Blumenthal is biased because he formally opposed the federal recognition bid of the Golden Hill Paugussett tribe. Blumenthal says her request is unfounded and the state is automatically an interested party in the Eastern Pequot and Paucatuck Eastern Pequot tribes. Get the Story:
