A new book on the Nez Perce Tribe retraces the 1,700-mile route Chief Joseph and his people made while fleeing from the US Army in 1877.

To promote "Nez Perce Summer 1877: The US. Army and the Nee-Me-Poo Crisis," author Jerome A. Greene will be making appearances along the route the tribe took.

The tribe was trying to flee to Canada but the Army caught up with them just 40 miles south of the border in northern Montana.
