WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2001

The city and county of Santa Fe have already drilled a water well on land belonging to San Ildefonso Pueblo of New Mexico, a project the tribe has never publicly allowed.

The city's water division tested the well and said it is capable of producing up to 1 million gallons of water a day. The well is part of a $60 million water diversion system that is supported by Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.).
