CDC: Teen pregnancies down

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday reported that teen pregnancies dropped in 1997.

The CDC says 9.4 percent of teenage girls ages 15 to 19 became pregnant in 1997. This represents a drop of 4.4 percent from 1996.

Since 1991, teenage pregnancies have dropped 20 percent.

The report does not break down statistics for American Indian or Alaska Native teens.
