The Bonneville Power Administration has purchased a 9,000-acre ranch in western Oregon for the Confederated Warm Springs Tribes.

The purchase expands the tribe's holdings and will allow for the protection of the habitat along the lower John Day River. The land is home to a number of game and endangered species.

The land, part of a larger $8.1 million purchase, is expected to be the last BPA buys for the tribes.
