Evidence in Aquash murder case may be missing
Friday, August 22, 2003

Computer files related to the murder of American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou-Aquash were erased by the Denver police department, The Denver Rocky Mountain News reports.

Some of the backup tapes containing the information has been retrieved. Police say physical evidence has not been destroyed. The FBI says its evidence files are intact.

In February 1975, Pictou-Aquash was found dead on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. One man has been indicted in connection with her case. Another man is wanted.
