Civil trial over Native man's death delayed
Friday, September 19, 2003

A court in Ontario, Canada, delayed the civil trial into the death of a Native man who was shot by police during a protest at a provincial park.

Dudley George was killed September 6, 1995, in Ipperwash Park. Natives were protesting there as part of a land claim.

The family has sued the former Ontario premier but says it will drop the suit for a public inquiry in George's death.

The trial was set to start Monday but will be delayed until October 6.
