Choctaw Nation won't put racetrack into trust
Thursday, November 6, 2003

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma purchased a failing racetrack for $4.25 million but won't ask the land to be placed into trust, The Oklahoman reports.

The track is actually located within Cherokee Nation territory. The Cherokees were interested in the property, which the Choctaws purchased on Monday.

The tribe will continue to pay property taxes on Blue Ribbon Downs, which were $41,000 last year, according to the paper.
