TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2002

Denied recognition by the federal government, the Miami Nation of Indiana is still trying to keep its culture alive.

The tribe has revived the Miami Indian Village School to teach tribal history and language. The school was created in 1860 by Miami Chief Meshingomesia.

The school building has been restored and is is the last remaining wooden frame school in the state.
