A group of Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian elders came together more than 20 years ago and looked for a way to stop the loss of their cultures. They created Celebration, an event which drew thousands of tribal members from all over the country to Juneau, Alaska.

The first year Celebration was held, 12 dance groups came. Now, it's up to 45.

About 3,000 people attended this year's event. It is sponsored by the Sealaska Heritage Institute, which is affiliated with Sealaska, an Alaska Native corporation.
