Concerns raised about possible Mont. bison hunt

Montana Governor Judy Martz (R) hasn't signed a bill authorizing a bison hunt into law but state livestock officials are concerned about it.

State officials have supported a hunt of bison that wander out of Yellowstone National Park. But they worry that hunters would leave behind "gut piles" that could contain brucellosis, a deadly cattle disease. Workers might have to go in the field to remove potentially dangerous items.

Montana's Indian lawmakers opposed the hunt bill. It was approved by the Legislature.
