JUNE 18, 2001 White House officials on Sunday said President Bush will support limits on the wholesale price of electricity, which the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will consider today. Bush has previously opposed having the federal government step in to help California's power problems. Republicans from California are now pushing the FERC to extend price caps year round, not just during emergency power shortages. Democrats in California are accusing Republican interests acting under a group called American Taxpayers Alliance of television ads blaming Governor Gray Davis (D) for the power crisis.
