NOVEMBER 17, 2000

The Florida Supreme Court on Monday will hold a hearing on recounts still occurring in Florida, preventing Secretary of State Katherine Harris from certifying the election tomorrow as she had planned.

Harris on Wednesday said she would not accept the new counts. Earlier today, a county circuit judge ruled she is within her power to do so.

But the state Supreme Court has decided to see if she can actually do that. Presently, Broward and Palm Beach counties are still manually counting votes.

The deadline for receipt of all overseas ballots is midnight tonight. Results from those are expected on Saturday.
