Coeur d'Alene Tribe opens resort

MARCH 2, 2001 The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho on Thursday celebrated the opening of a new $100 million 100-room hotel. The tribe also unveiled plans of developing an 18-hole golf course, a 4,000-seat indoor arena, a theme park, an outdoor arena for pow wows, more hotel rooms, and a nature preserve. The tribe has had to deal with some financial uncertainties due to a pending case in federal court on the legality of certain gaming machines. Governor Dirk Kempthorne today plans on announcing a new agreement "in principal" with tribes in the state. Get the Story:
