MONDAY, MARCH 25, 2002 At a debate on Sunday night, the three Democrats running for governor of South Dakota said they support tribal sovereignty. Ron Volesky, Jim Abbott and Jim Humatcher said they would include tribes in their efforts. Volesky is a state legislator who is a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. The Sioux Falls Argus Leader didn't report if the three Republicans seeking their party's nomination made similar pledges. Get the Story:
