DECEMBER 14, 2000

Who will be part of President-elect George W. Bush's new administration? Several news organizations say they have the answers.

The Knight-Ridder news service has compiled a list of key appointees, including Montana Governor Marc Racicot as a contender for Attorney General or Secretary of Interior. Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson is listed as a choice for Secretary of Health and Human Services.

The Albany Times-Union focuses on New York state Republicans in its report. Governor George Pataki is suggested for job in Interior or the Environmental Protection Agency.

The defeated Rick Lazio (R-NY) has been suggested as head of Housing and Urban Development, but the paper says there is talk he might not have the "administrative skills" for the job.

In a related story, The Palm Springs Desert Sun reports that California Democrats say Bush needs to reach out to their party an appoint members to top posts.
