Bush meets with Navajo Nation

Along with other tribal leaders in the Southwest, Texas Governor George W. Bush met recently with Navajo Nation President Kelsey Begaye and other members of the government on a campaign stop in New Mexico

Begaye said he stressed the importance of education to Bush, particularly the Headstart program and tribal colleges.

While in New Mexico, Bush unveiled his proposal to spend nearly $1 billion to aid schools in Indian Country through the Tribal School Capital Improvement Fund.
