The Jamul Indian Village has been complying with its Class III gaming compact in addressing the impacts of its casino, according to a letter from the office of California Gov. Jerry Brown (D). The tribe plans to build a $360 million casino on the reservation. Under the compact, the tribe must mitigate off-reservation impacts and inform the public about its plans. The letter from Jacob Appelsmith, Brown's senior advisor, confirms that the tribe has been doing just that despite opposition from local groups.
