The Jamul Indian Village of California is confident of its $360 million on-reservation casino despite litigation from opposition groups. The tribe is not named in the lawsuit. But Chairman Raymond Hunter said the opposition groups haven't been able to stop the casino in the past. “This same group of local opposition has filed more than a dozen lawsuits intended to undermine the tribe’s rights and authorities. The tribe has prevailed every time," Hunter told The San Diego Union-Tribune. "We believe we will prevail in this case as well and will devote the resources necessary to defend our rights.” The lawsuit names the National Indian Gaming Commission and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Among other claims, opponent say the reservation was never placed in trust for the tribe. Get the Story:
