Professor's research helps Cayuga land claim

University of Ithaca professor Jack Rossen calls himself an "activist archeologist," a label easily applied to his work with the Cayuga Nation of New York.

For the past four years, Rossen has been helping the tribe with its land claim. He has uncovered Cayuga settlements that he says prove the tribe's long-time existence.

Rossen also works with S.H.A.R.E. or Strengthening Haudenosaunee American Relations Through Education. The volunteer group promotes education and understanding between the Haudenosaunee people and others.
