Lummi Nation carver recognized for healing work


A member of the Lummi Nation who has carved totem poles to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, was presented with a "Crown of Peace" award on Monday night.

Jewell Praying Wolf James was recognized as a peacemaker by the International Federation for World Peace, a religious organization.

James and members of the Lummi Nation of Washington have placed totem poles in New York and in Pennsylvania. They plan to bring two more and an arch to the Pentagon.
