Senate, House committee hearings rescheduled

Hearings scheduled today on the No Child Left Behind Act and land claims legislation have been canceled in light of the memorial to former president Ronald Reagan in Washington, D.C.

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee has moved the oversight hearing on education to June 16. Assistant secretary Dave Anderson is expected to testify.

The House Resources Committee was to hold a hearing on H.R. 831 to settle a claim on behalf of the Bay Mills Indian Community and H.R. 2793 to settle a claim on behalf of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indian. A new date has not been announced yet.
