Mark Trahant: Congress should abide by laws too

"Remember the first rule of the Republican Party's "Contract With America"?

In case it's slipped your mind, here it is: "FIRST, require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also apply equally to the Congress."

A simple requirement. Congress has to live within the law like people, corporate America or any other segment of civil society.

It's an easy thing to say. But a decade of experience has shown that it's not so easy to accomplish, even when the Republicans are the governing party. Make that: Especially when Republicans are the governing party."
