Tribal college in New Mexico makes 29 layoffs

Another tribal college is in financial trouble. This time it's the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in New Mexico.

SIPI administrators eliminated 29 jobs on Monday, citing a budget deficit and a restructuring. But some of the staff are refusing to accept the layoff.

SIPI has been the subject of a Bureau of Indian Affairs investigation but the results have not been made public. Joseph Martin recently resigned as SIPI president.
