Oneida Nation details spending as part of tax fight

The Oneida Nation of New York detailed how much it has spent on its land as part of a taxation dispute with the town of Verona.

The tribe said it spent about $432 million on its casino resort and $11 million on marinas, gas stations and other developments in the town. The tribe owns 224 parcels in Verona.

Local officials say the tribe must pay taxes on that land in light of the U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision. Based on a $400 million assessment of the tribe's properties, the tribe's tax bill would be $8.7 million.
