Davy Crockett actor Fess Parker says he will drop his partnership with the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians after residents came out against the plan.

Parker and the tribe teamed up on a $250 million housing and hotel project. Parker was going to sell 745 acres to the tribe for $12 million and build up to 500 luxury homes, a hotel resort, two golf courses and a horse center

Parker is now scaling back the project to a single golf course, a 100-room hotel, and 100 luxury homes on 500 acres. He says dropping the tribe from the deal means the land will stay on county tax rolls.
