Federal Recognition
Judge allows Trump lawsuit against Eastern Pequots

A superior court judge in Connecticut is allowing Donald Trump's lawsuit against the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation to go forward, ruling that the tribe and its members are not protected by sovereign immunity.

Trump claims he was cheated out of a deal for a tribal casino. He says he poured $14 million into one tribal faction's bid for federal recognition.

The tribe's two factions were recognized as one single tribe by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The tribe then chose another developer for a proposed casino.
