Hearing into Fire Thunder suspension delayed

Cecelia Fire Thunder, the first woman president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe won't face a hearing today over her proposed suspension, The Rapid City Journal reports.

The paper said the tribal council postponed the hearing for unknown reasons. It will be scheduled for a later date.

Fire Thunder is accused of mismanaging a Head Start program that had financial problems before she was elected last year. She is also accused of showing disrespect towards elders on a radio program.

The complaint was filed by the former Head Start director whom Fire Thunder fired.
