Project aims to uncover Harvard Indian College

The Harvard University Native American Program and The Peabody Museum broke ground on an archaeology project aimed at uncovering the 350-year old Harvard Indian College.

The college was the first brick building in Harvard's main yard when it opened in 165. Only a handful of local tribal members attended before it was abolished in 1670.

The school now hopes to try and find out more about the building and its archaeological history. For the next semester, 25 students will be digging up the yard and searching for artifacts, structures and other items.
