San Pasqual Band meeting a peaceful affair

A general council meeting of the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians turned out to be a peaceful affair on Sunday, although police had to investigate a bomb threat.

The threat was called in 15 minutes before the meeting began, The North County Times reported. A search by police failed to turn up anything and the meeting started on time.

As tribal members met at a Knights of Columbus Hall off the reservation, a group staged a peaceful protest The group accuses tribal leaders of denying membership to about 200 people in order to limit per capita payments to the 300-member tribe.
