Money sought for Indian education positions

The Nebraska Education Department is seeking money to fund two Indian education positions.

Education Commissioner Doug Christensen said the state needs money for an Indian education director and an Indian drug prevention specialist. Currently, the positions are funded by a federal grant but the money runs out after this year, he said.

Additionally, Christensen is asking for money for four other positions. A total of $491,000 is needed, he said.
