Osage Nation Chief Jim Gray wins re-election

Jim Gray easily won re-election as chief of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma, beating out a field of five candidates.

Gray won 57.38 percent of the vote. He will serve his second term as chief, having led the tribe through a successful governmental reorganization that was preceded by a special act of Congress.

Also elected were members of the Osage Congress. Chief Gray's brother, narrowly lost his bid for a seat on tribe's new legislative branch.

Kugee Supernaw, an entrepreneur whose criticism of the Quapaw Tribe's gaming enterprise led to an investigation and fines by the National Indian Gaming Commission, also won a seat. A total of 12 people were elected to the Congress, with six to serve six-year terms and six to serve four-year terms.

Eight people were elected to the mineral council.
