Karuk Tribe upset with probe into fire at sacred house


Arson at Katimiin The Karuk Tribe of California says the Siskiyou County Sheriff�s Department isn't doing enough to investigated a fire that destroyed a sacred dance house.

In a letter to the sheriff, Karuk Chairman Arch Super said the tribe was frustrated with the handling of the case. He questioned whether the department was putting enough energy into finding the person or persons who may have set the blaze.

The dance house was destroyed in an early morning fire on July 1. It was used for the Brush Dance, a children's healing ceremony.
