Navajo president delivers last State of the Nation

Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. gave the last State of the Nation of his current term.

Shirley touted some of the successes of his administration. They include the signing of a land agreement with the Hopi Tribe, a water rights settlement with the state of New Mexico, plans for a $2.5 million power plant and the development of casinos.

Shirley is running on these issues as he seeks re-election. His challenger is Linda Lovejoy, who wants to be the first woman president of the Navajo Nation.

The State of the Nation was delivered on the opening day of the Navajo Nation Council's fall session in Window Rock, Arizona.
