Eastern Band brings Christmas to tribal elders

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians of North Carolina continued its holiday tradition of delivering foods boxes to tribal elders.

This year, the tribe collected 1,025 boxes of household goods, food and simple gifts. About 250 volunteers started packing up the boxes on Monday.

Most of the boxes will be delivered to elders on the reservation but about 100 are going to elders who live off the reservation.
