Paskenta Band supports tough child abuse law

The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians donated $25,000 to support a campaign that would impose harsh penalties on people who sexually abuse children.

Leslie Lohse, the tribe's treasurer, said the state of California needs to get tough on sex offenders. She presented the check to the Proposition 83 campaign on Monday.

The proposition, also known as Jessica's Law, imposes a minimum sentence of 15 years for people who sexually abuse children and requires sex offenders to wear a GPS tracking system for life.
