Another tribal recogntion bill introduced in House
As the House was voting on bills to recognize seven tribes, Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Washington) on Wednesday introduced one to recognize the Duwamish Tribe of Washington.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs recognized the tribe during the final weeks of the Clinton administration. The Bush administration reversed the decision in September 2001.

The tribe has filed suit in federal court but McDermott's bill, H.R.2678, would resolve the issue once and for all.
