Pat Ragsdale: Chad Smith the right choice for Cherokee chief

"The Cherokee Nation is stronger than ever under the leadership of Principal Chief Chad Smith.

Within the United States of America, the Cherokee Nation has progressed and risen to be one of the most distinguished, respected, and responsible government. With Chad Smith and Chris Soap as principal chief and deputy principal chief leading the Cherokee Nation, the progress, respect for the law, for the Cherokee people and Oklahoma will continue.

I have served in the federal government for 30 years, three years with the U.S. Marines and 10 years as an employee with the Cherokee Nation.

I know what his opponents have in mind. Councilman Baker’s record and his former campaign for deputy principal chief which he lost is not a record of responsible governance."
