"Back in March, when the North Dakota Senate passed the pro-Fighting Sioux nickname bill, Gov. Jack Dalrymple said something interesting.

Not “save the name.”

Not “retire the name.”

Instead, the governor said this before signing the bill:

“A large number of people in North Dakota feel that the question of the logo still needs to be brought to a final conclusion.”

In other words, North Dakotans wanted to see it play out.

They got their wish."
