Navajo Nation places Head Start director on leave for a week

The Navajo Nation placed the director of its Head Start program on leave for a week -- the same week the Administration for Children and Families came to review the program, The Farmington Daily Times reports.

Spencer Willie was told to leave his office at 4pm last Friday. He's supposed to return to work today.

"Mr. Tah did not provide me with any specific reason for the leave as is required under the Navajo Nation’s personnel policies and procedures," Willie told the paper.

Willie became director of Navajo Head Start in December 2007. He was hired after the ACF suspended funding to the tribe when a review found employees with criminal records.
