Poarch Creeks start work on $24M hotel near Florida airport

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians broke ground on a $24 million hotel at the Pensacola International Airport in Pensacola, Florida.

The 127-room Hyatt Place Hotel will be connected to the airport through a covered walkway, The Atmore Advance reported. The project also includes retail and office space.

"We are fortunate enough to be able to reinvest into the community with quality investments like the Airport and 12the project,” Creek Indian Enterprises Development Authority President and CEO Tim Martin told the paper.

The airport is about 54 miles from tribal headquarters in Atmore, Alabama.
