Passamaquoddy Tribe announces plan for $120M wind farm

The Passamaquoddy Tribe of Indian Township and Pleasant Point announced plans for a $120 million wind farm in Maine.

The tribe will seek 1,000 acres in surplus federal land for the project. The tribe already owns 1,060 acres adjacent to the property.

If the land transfer goes through, the tribe could start work and begin operating the farm in 2013, a consultant said. Construction would generate 50 to 100 jobs and operation would create 15 to 20 jobs.
