Clara Nomee, former chair of Crow Tribe, passes on at 73





Clara Nomee, a former chair of the Crow Tribe of Montana, died on Tuesday. She was 73.

Nomee was the first woman to lead the tribe. She ran into controversy after being indicted on federal theft charges.

Nomee fought the conviction but lost her case in April 2000. She tried to regain her post but lost to a rival who ended up being indicted a couple of years later.
