Chief of Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation survives vote

The chief of the Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation in the Yukon will stay on the job.

Band members voted 109-40 to let Eddie Skookum serve out the remainder of his term. He has less than a year left, The Yukon News reported.

Skookum faced removal after he was arrested on domestic violence and drunken driving charges in Alaska. Critics also said he was arrested in Nevada on similar charges.
