Quechan Nation to receive $3M for trust fund settlement

The Quechan Nation accepted $3 million to settle its trust mismanagement lawsuit.

President Keeny Escalanti Sr. told KYMA-TV that the settlement process was "pretty stresful." He also said the tribe wanted more money but didn't have as much in terms of trust assets as others involved in the $1 billion settlement.

The tribe plans to use some of the money for gaming and other operations but also plans to set some aside, KYMA reported.
