Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes to share $10K per cap

The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Montana will send out $10,000 per capita checks on September 12, The Ronan Valley Journal reports.

The per capita payment represents half of a $150 million the tribe received as part of a trust fund settlement with the Obama administration. The tribe hasn't decided what to do with the rest of the money.

“When we have a plan, we will notify everyone,” the tribe said in a letter, the paper reported.

The tribe has about 7,800 members.
