Fort Peck Tribes continue to weigh per cap on $75M settlement

The Fort Peck Tribes of Montana have yet to make a decision whether to distribute a $75 million trust fund settlement on a per capita basis.

Some members have asked for a share of the money. Amounts from $500 to $2,000 have been suggested at public meetings and on the Facebook page for The Fort Peck Journal, an independent news source on the reservation.

A tribal council committee plans to hold a special meeting to consider setting a per cap, according to the Journal. Reports of a final decision on the issue were premature yesterday.

The Fort Peck Tribes were one of the first to announce a trust fund settlement with the Obama administration.
