Seneca-Cayuga Tribe invited to Ohio for Chief Logan ceremony

The Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma is being invited to Ohio to take part in the 100th anniversary of the Logan Elm State Memorial.

Chief Logan was a Cayuga chief who lived in the 1700s. He was known for a giving a speech in 1774 about war and peace as his people were being forced out of their ancestral territory.

An elm tree under which Logan reportedly gave his speech was located at the memorial until it died in 1964. A new tree will be planted in his honor at the ceremony on Sunday.
