Former San Manuel Band chair headed to runoff for county seat

James Ramos, the former chairman of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, won the most votes in the race for 3rd district supervisor in San Bernardino County, California.

But since Ramos didn't win a majority of the vote, he will head into a runoff with Neil Derry, the incumbent. The race so far has been extremely negative -- with Derry primarily attacking Ramos and his tribal background.

“I think it really sends a strong message that the people are tired of the negativity and the negative image and the corruption that has plagued San Bernardino County,” Ramos told The Riverside Press-Enterprise.

The runoff will take place in November.
