Kevin Washburn to appear at hearing on federal recognition

Assistant Secretary Kevin Washburn, the head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, will testify at a hearing on federal recognition tomorrow.

Washburn, a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, is the sole witness at the hearing before the House Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs. The committee will be taking the Obama administration's views on the federal recognition process.

This will be Washburn's second appearance on Capitol Hill since the start of the 113th Congress.
